The Third Ward Thrift Sale is September 12th! Read below to learn how it works and how you can add your home to the list published on our map!
Clean out your closets, basements and garages! We are pleased to announce the return of the Third Ward Neighborhood Thrift Sale on Saturday, September 12, 2025. We are asking thrift sale hosts to write up a brief description of what you are selling so shoppers looking for specific items can zero in on you! For example: ‘tons of baby clothes and furniture,’ or ‘sofas, chairs, small antiques’. The sale will be advertised in the newspaper and your items posted on the Custom Google Map to assist thrift-salers with shopping.
What’s unique about our sale?
We don’t have a central location, any home in the Third Ward may participate, and put your items out in your garage or driveway.
We advertise as one sale, and local area residents can travel from one home to the next to purchase items, so the owners collect the money, profit goes right to each participant.
Two steps:

- Pay your fee: All we ask is you submit a $5 fee to “register” so your address will go on our google map and right here on this page! How to pay?

How does the Chippewa Valley know about our sale?
We list an ad in the paper the week prior, and a google Map and List of the Homes participating in the 2026 Third Ward Thrift-sale on September 12.
The Third Ward Neighborhood Association Family Potluck Picnic will be September 13 from 5-7pm at the Demmler Park pavilion (624 Putnam), the day after the neighborhood thrift sale. There will lots of fund for the kids; face painting, a balloon artist, and games. New this year, come and tie dye a T-shirt for yourself; t-shirts, dye and supplies will be provided courtesy of Home For Good.
Please bring a dish to contribute to the potluck and share with your neighbors. Bring a few folding chairs if you can. Even if you aren’t able to provide something for the potluck, come any way to enjoy the fun and have some Olson’s ice cream on us. Olson’s will be scooping 5 great flavors for you to choose from: Vanilla, Lemon Poppy Seed, Mackinac Island Fudge, Raspberry Cheesecake, and Mint Cookies & Cream!
This will also be an opportunity to check out our new pollinator garden. It’s something we as a neighborhood association should be very proud of. There will be people at the picnic who can explain how it came about and the work that went in to getting it established. More plants will be added this September. It continues to need regular watering and weeding. Help us nurture it, if you can. Training is available to teach you how to identify the weeds.
Come and enjoy getting to know some of your neighbors.

We had a fabulous SOLD OUT Home Tour on Aug. 9th, raising money for TWNA, giving over 250 attendees a glimpse of the “restoration, comfort and care” that old homes provide. It showcases our neighborhood in a very positive way! Thank you to the five families who agreed to be on our tour!!

Garden Volunteer Day
Our Garden Coordinator was contacted by Assoc. Bank of Eau Claire. The bank has an internal program called Days of Service, where employees choose a non-profit or charitable organization within the city to spend a day helping with tasks that benefit the community at large.
This year, Associated Bank chose Demmler Community Garden. They had their employees come to the garden and spent a day helping us with weeding, planting, repair and maintenance work, and any other projects we can think of.
This was a great opportunity for Demmler to be involved in volunteer activities that benefit not only our garden itself, but also foster additional relationships that focus on giving back to the community.

All Our Fall Events were a hit!
Over 70 people attended the Fall Picnic on Sept. 8 and 37 families participated in the Thrift Sale! In addition 34 people attended our Annual Meeting on Sept. 18th at the Welcome Center at UWEC. See our main page for our next meeting.
